Blacky is a cat very much in charge of his own destiny and he decided that he was going to live with us. How could we say no when a cute black and white tuxedo kitten showed up asking for food and water? At every visit he’d chat away and tell me what he’d been up to, with lots of head butting and loud purring. After each meal, he’d disappear into the forest behind the house.
One day, I decided to wrap him in a blanket and sit with him on my lap in the sunny back yard. He thought this was a rather delightful new development. After that, he walked around like he was my new owner, so I agreed he was right.
We named him Blacky because it rhymes with Goldie and Missy, our two indoor cats. He was officially adopted, sterilised and microchipped. Sadly, he tested positive for FELV, so he has to live apart from the other two.
Blacky loves spending time in the woods and he now has his own suite in the basement. He comes and goes on his own schedule and loves sitting on my lap in the evening while I rub his head. I am in love with my Portuguese cat.
